In 2026, TikTok Shop continues to grow as a global sales channel — but understanding the full cost structure is critical to profitability. This guide breaks down every fee you’ll encounter as a seller.
TikTok Shop's published US referral-fee structure (effective October 31, 2024) sets 6% for most categories and 5% for jewelry and pre-owned items (3% on the portion above $10,000). The fee is calculated as rate × (customer payment + platform discount - tax). A minority of 2026 guides report an 8% rate for most non-food categories taking effect August 4, 2026; TikTok has not published that change. A refund administration fee of 20% of the original referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU, applies when an order is returned. Always verify your own category rate in Seller Center before listing.
There is no separate US payment processing line. TikTok’s US referral fee combines the marketplace commission and transaction processing into a single charge, which is why 6% is closer to an all-in platform cut than it looks. Some guides still quote a separate processing fee of around 2% (or, in older guides, 2% plus a $0.30 fixed component) — if your own Seller Center statement shows a separate line, model it; otherwise leave it out.
Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) handles pick, pack and delivery for sellers who qualify, and TikTok funds part of the shipping cost on eligible orders — that shows up as its own subsidy credit on your statement, so read the amount off your own account rather than assuming a fixed percentage. FBT storage and inbound handling are separate line items; model them against your own dimensions and category. Sellers who fulfil themselves carry 100% of the label cost.
Creator commission is set by you, per product, and is paid by you — it is not a TikTok platform fee. Commonly reported open-collaboration bands run around 10–15%, with per-category ranges often quoted at 5–20%; targeted deals with proven creators run higher. It stacks on top of the referral fee, and it is the line sellers most often forget. TikTok charges no additional per-order platform fee for live-driven orders beyond the referral fee — if a statement line looks like one, it is a creator commission, not a platform charge.
Net Profit = Revenue - (Referral Fee + Logistics + Creator Commission (if any) + Returns Reserve + Product Cost). Always model your pricing with every line included — not just the referral fee. Run your own numbers in the TikTok Shop profit calculator.
