Key fact: Commission on refunded or cancelled orders is reversed — model the refund rate explicitly instead of ignoring it. Sellers set the rate in the affiliate open-collaboration tools; typical seller-set ranges run 5–30% depending on category.
Commission is only paid on completed, non-refunded orders — that's why the refund rate matters more than the headline rate.
Break-even = the commission rate at which a completed sale earns exactly zero. Set your offer below it.
Typical seller-set planning ranges across categories (editable defaults above; always confirm current rates in your Seller Center → Affiliate tools):
| Category | Typical commission range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Beauty & personal care | 15–25% | Highest-competing category; samples expected |
| Fashion & apparel | 10–20% | High refund rates — model them |
| Home & kitchen | 10–15% | Mid-ticket, steady conversion |
| Electronics & accessories | 5–12% | Thin margins; break-even check is critical |
| Food & health supplements | 15–30% | Re-purchase driven; verify category eligibility |
Ranges are editable planning benchmarks, not official TikTok rate cards — they are not verified platform data. Platform commission/fee % defaults are likewise editable: check Seller Center for your market before committing to offers.
Creator: you keep = price × rate × (1 − refund%) × (1 − agency%) − sample_cost ÷ orders. Refunds erase commission retroactively, so a 15% headline rate with 10% refunds is effectively 13.5%.
Seller: net per sale = price − cogs − ship − price×fee% − price×rate% − refund_loss, where refund_loss = (cogs + ship + price×fee% + price×rate%) × refund%. Break-even rate solves net = 0 for the commission %.
Sellers set the commission rate in the affiliate/open-collaboration tools; creators earn that percentage on completed orders. Typical seller-set ranges run 5–30% depending on category — use the calculator above to see what you actually keep after refunds.
Often yes, or sample cost is deducted from the first commissions. Amortize sample cost over the orders you expect to attribute — the calculator does this per order.
Commission on refunded/cancelled orders is reversed. Model the refund rate explicitly; fashion and beauty run high.
The main calculator covers seller platform fees, FBT logistics and multi-market rate tables. This page is the affiliate/creator-side math: commission earnings and break-even offers.
