Rules of Origin & Preferential Tariff Calculator — USMCA / RCEP / EU Origin Rules
Last updated:
Check whether your product qualifies for preferential (duty-free) origin treatment: USMCA Regional Value Content 60%, RCEP origin rules 40%, EU GSP — plus country of origin marking ('Made in ...') and Certificate of Origin requirements. Estimate the resulting duty rate and landed cost impact.
Country of Origin Marking & COO Reminder: goods exported from China must be marked 'Made in China' (US 19 CFR Part 134) and typically need a Certificate of Origin — FTA preference does not replace marking requirements.
US: most imports must be marked with country of origin (19 CFR Part 134) — FTA preference does not exempt marking. EU: 'Made in ...' marking is mandatory mainly for specific products (food, textiles, footwear). China exports: a Certificate of Origin (CCPIT / Chinese customs) is required for many destinations.
Regional Value Content (RVC) = 100% − non-originating %. USMCA most goods: RVC ≥ 60% (transaction value); RCEP most goods: RVC ≥ 40%.
Most FTAs require a tariff classification change / substantial transformation in addition to RVC (product-specific rules, PSR). Assembled products usually qualify; mere packaging or relabeling does not.
